The Course provides a comprehensive overview of the performance outcomes, skills, and knowledge necessary for preparing and serving espresso coffee beverages using commercial espresso machines and grinders.

Participants will learn to offer advice to customers regarding coffee beverages, select and grind coffee beans, prepare and evaluate espresso coffee beverages, and maintain and clean the espresso machines and grinders. A prerequisite for this course is the unit SITXFSA005, which covers hygienic practices for food safety in a commercial environment to ensure customer safety. The unit is applicable to various hospitality establishments, including cafes, restaurants, bars, clubs, and function and event venues.

It is designed for espresso machine operators who can work with some independence and limited supervision. Upon completion of this course, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to excel in the preparation and service of espresso coffee beverages in the hospitality industry.
